How Learning and Mentoring Help Sales Development Careers Progress

Sales Roles in Costa Rica

Join our Sales Development team and jumpstart your career. Here, you’ll build essential commercial skills and get the hands-on experience you need to grow. From day one, we’ll set you up for success with a structured onboarding, practical coaching, and support from leaders who care about your progress. You’ll learn by doing, with shadowing, talk tracks, role plays, and real-time feedback so you can ramp up quickly and confidently.

When Raquel Porras joined Veeam Costa Rica as a Sales Development Representative (SDR), she entered a role where feedback and mentoring were part of the day-to-day work. She used both to build her sales skills and has since progressed into an Inside Channel Developer role at Veeam, the Data and AI Trust Company.

“Whether it is learning from experienced teammates, having open conversations about my goals or getting the feedback I need to improve, I always feel supported in my development here.”

How Does a Sales Career Grow at Veeam Costa Rica?

Raquel’s promotion began with the work she was doing as a SDR. She asked for feedback, spoke openly about her goals and learned how experienced teammates approached real sales conversations. Over time, those learnings gave her the confidence and commercial judgment to take on a channel-focused role.

“I got promoted! And that would not have happened without the encouragement of my mentors and colleagues. Whether it is learning from teammates or having a mentor who gives frank advice, Veeam makes sure you are never alone on your journey.”

Her next role changed the customers and partners she supported, while the foundation remained the same: listen carefully, understand the territory and keep improving through experience.

How Does Veeam Support Learning and Development?

Learning became part of Raquel’s working week rather than a separate exercise. Teammates shared how they handled different situations, and a mentor gave her direct input on career choices and education. She could then test that advice in her work, return with questions and keep refining her approach.

Events like the Sales Development bootcamp extended that exchange across the wider sales community. It gave colleagues time to compare approaches, build connections and bring useful ideas back to their teams.

What’s the culture like at Veeam Costa Rica?

As the Costa Rica team expanded, Raquel gained more people to learn from and more perspectives to draw on. Colleagues asked for her view of the territory, shared their own experience and used those conversations to improve how they worked together.

“Everyone here is so helpful. People respect our feedback, ask us about the territory and use what we share to improve their approach.” She also had access to senior leaders who treated the discussion as a working conversation. That openness made it easier to raise ideas, understand the wider sales context and take responsibility for new assignments.

“No one feels like they are sitting above you. They are sitting together with you. That makes me feel like I matter.”

How Does Veeam Build Customer Trust?

Raquel learned to make each first conversation relevant to the person on the other end. Working across Latin America exposed her to different markets, while every call required the same discipline: listen, understand the need and respond in a way that feels clear and personal.

“I enjoy connecting with people across different countries and continents, understanding their needs and making a real difference for their business. I want people to get to know Raquel and make the conversation feel human.” Those relationship skills now support her work as an Inside Channel Developer. Her progression shows how experience gained in sales development can create a foundation for another part of the sales organization.

Why Start a Sales Career at Veeam Costa Rica?

For Raquel, the reason is the combination of trust and access to people who will help her improve. She can manage her work, speak openly with leadership and use feedback in the moment, which has helped her move from an entry point in sales into a new role.

“The open culture here, where I can talk with anyone in the company and feel comfortable, makes me feel like I matter.”
