Sales Careers at Veeam Costa Rica
Small Business to Enterprise
Allison joined Veeam in February 2024, recruited into a Costa Rica office that was still finding its footing. Her previous role had been selling dental aligners and retainers. Veeam was something different entirely: enterprise technology, global accounts, and a team still being built from scratch.
More than two years later, she is a Strategic Sales Development Associate (SDA) working with enterprise companies across Canada. She has been promoted, flown to Vancouver to meet the team she supports, and recognised as the first SDR from the Costa Rica office to win the Veeam Excellence (VX) Trailblazer award, which took her to Bali, Indonesia.
What is the culture like at Veeam Costa Rica?
"We are very open to receiving feedback. We have seen very good progress because of that."
Allison was part of the second cohort of SDRs to join Veeam Costa Rica, which meant she arrived before the playbook was fully written. The team was new, the processes were still being shaped, and the relationship between the Costa Rica SDRs and the account executives they supported had not yet been properly established.
Early on, the SDR work was focused on a single loop: receive a marketing signal, call the client, book a meeting. Allison wanted more than that.
"I was thinking, I'm working alongside this account executive and I don't know what he's doing. So I brought it to my manager to have more insight into their process, and they agreed. And that's something that has been helping us do better than what we were bringing before."
What followed was a shift across the whole team. The relationship between the Costa Rica SDRs and the Canadian account executives improved enough that Veeam organised a trip to Vancouver for the team to meet in person. Allison went in April 2025, her first time in Canada, to sit with the people she had been supporting remotely, understand their challenges, and align on what good collaboration actually looked like.
"I got to know them and they got to know me. We work closely with account executives and marketing. We help turn opportunities into meaningful business outcomes. Those moments highlight the importance of teamwork."
The Canadian account executives later came to Costa Rica. By then, the team had built something that had not existed when Allison started: a functioning, trusting working relationship across borders, built from a suggestion she made and a willingness from both sides to listen.
What does career growth look like for an SDR at Veeam?
Allison started at Veeam working with small and medium-sized businesses through Velocity. A year in, she was promoted to Strategic Sales Development Associate and moved into larger enterprise accounts.
"I improved my communication skills, learned how to collaborate across global teams. I started as an SDR with small businesses and now I work with huge enterprise companies. I became more confident presenting ideas and engaging with different stakeholders, which was something I was really afraid of before."
She points to relationships as the foundation: the mentorship she received from colleagues, the training she engaged with actively, and a willingness to go beyond what was expected. Being part of the early cohort gave her a long enough runway to watch new colleagues arrive and to become the person teaching them how things worked.
"Since we were one of the first ones, it was really good exposure to see new Veeamers coming and for us to teach them how to do things. That really helped me grow, and I felt ready to move to bigger companies."
The skills she was cautious about two years ago, presenting ideas, engaging senior stakeholders, navigating enterprise conversations, are now part of her day-to-day.
What stood out to me was the culture. I saw the opportunity to join a company where people are encouraged to grow, contribute ideas, and make an impact.

Can an SDR really make an impact at Veeam?
"Every conversation we have with a client, every opportunity created, every relationship built contributes to the success of the team. It's rewarding to know that my work directly supports customers and the sales team."
Her impact shows up in the pipeline she helps build, the accounts she helps move forward, and the events she now helps fill. Working closely with marketing is something the team did not do before, but she has seen what is possible when those channels connect. More people at events means more conversations, more qualified leads, more meaningful opportunities handed to the sales team.
What she values most is that when she raises something, it is heard. The culture of the Costa Rica office is one where feedback moves in both directions, and watching suggestions turn into changes is where her sense of belonging actually came from.
"I feel respected, supported, and encouraged to contribute. If I have an idea, it gets heard. And that is something that really makes us feel valued, which creates a strong sense of belonging."
What kind of recognition do top performers receive at Veeam?
In April 2025, Allison was recognised as a VX Trailblazer, Veeam's award for top sales performance, and flown to Bali, Indonesia. She was the first SDR from the Costa Rica office to win it.
"It was incredibly rewarding because it reflected the hard work, dedication, and consistency that went into achieving my goals. It was also an opportunity to connect with colleagues from around the world, meet SDRs from other offices, and get to know a lot of new people. It was a really incredible experience."
She connected with colleagues from across the world and then extended her own travels afterward, heading to Japan on a personal trip. Next year the VX destination is Hawaii, and she already has her sights on it.
What skills do you develop working as an SDR at Veeam?
The growth Allison has experienced over two years did not happen by accident. She credits the environment as much as her own effort.
"Mentorship, training, relationships, and being proactive, doing more than what was needed, that is what helped me grow. Continuing to build relationships with new colleagues and showing an open mind, that is what made the difference."
The team shares best practices openly, supports each other through the monthly reset that every sales role brings, and creates the conditions for people to learn quickly and keep going. For someone who joined a brand-new office with no established playbook, the experience has been an accelerated education in enterprise sales, cross-border collaboration, and what it takes to earn the trust of both colleagues and customers.
"People here are encouraged to grow. You feel like you are really important to the company, whatever your role is. That is something I really like."
Why join Veeam in Costa Rica as an SDR or SDA?
Veeam Costa Rica is a place where an SDR can genuinely grow into enterprise sales, earn international recognition, and build relationships that span borders. Allison's path from SMB accounts to Canadian enterprise customers to a VX Trailblazer trip to Bali happened within two years, and it happened because the office is built around feedback, mentorship, and giving people the room to go further than their job description. For sales professionals who want to develop fast and feel the impact of their work directly, the opportunity in Costa Rica is real.
