About the Role
This role will play a key role to inform and execute people strategies across our operations in Japan. As the local HR Business Partner, you will serve as the main point of contact for all HR-related matters, supporting brilliant execution of people initiatives whilst ensuring compliance with local labour laws and practices. This role requires a deep understanding of the local employment landscape, combined with the ability to translate global HR strategy into impactful, country-specific execution.
This role covers all aspects of HR, including operations, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, talent management, organizational development, onboarding, policy implementation, recruiting, and compliance with Japanese employment law.
What You'll Do
- Drive HR strategy aligned with business objectives for Japan and act as a trusted advisor on Japanese labour laws and talent market trends.
- Ensure robust personnel policies and adherence to all employment legislation and regulations.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and Talent Management teams to support recruiting, onboarding, and performance management initiatives.
- Align local compensation programs with global strategy and oversee benefits administration, wellness programs, and charitable initiatives.
- Develop programs that foster engagement, retention, and career development, creating an inclusive and high-performing culture.
- Provide guidance and training to managers on performance management, employee relations, and recruiting best practices.
- Build development plans to strengthen leadership and team capabilities, supporting long-term growth.
- Promote Veeam’s employer brand through HR programs and interactions that reflect company values.
- Work closely with Payroll team and external vendor to ensure accurate timekeeping and compliance with policies.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–7 years of HR experience in a generalist or representative capacity; managerial experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Proven ability to lead change management initiatives in a fast-paced, growing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Business-level Japanese fluency and conversational-level of English fluency are required.

- Prior working experience in a global, matrixed organization
- Strong collaboration experience with global stakeholders and APJ leadership
- Working experience in IT industry
