“Sales at Veeam is always teamwork. Nobody fights by themselves. We’re there for each other, and we push each other to achieve the best results possible.”
Nicoleta joined the Veeam Sales team without much prior Sales knowledge. A former schoolteacher, she had previously worked in customer support for apps such as Airbnb where she resolved payment issues and mediated between hosts and guests. That’s also where she met the colleague who brought her to Veeam. “What really appealed to me was when they told me that Sales at Veeam is always teamwork. Nobody fights by themselves. We’re there for each other, and we push each other to achieve the best results possible.”
Support from the tight-knit Veeam Sales community continues to this day for Nicoleta. Her job constantly changes, so whether it’s obtaining the right tools, learning how to use them, or finding the right approach to a customer’s request, Veeamers rely on each other for the best solutions. “My job is very dynamic. That’s what makes it fascinating to me,” Nicoleta says.
A different perspective of Sales
When Nicoleta joined, she discovered another aspect of the job that appealed to her: “While there’s a big focus on success, Sales at Veeam is never aggressive. People who tell you that’s how Sales has to be – they are simply wrong. For example, when a customer tells me that now is not a good time, I would never push them to give me their time. They have things to do, too! Instead, I will offer to send an email and ask for a better moment to talk in person.”
It’s not surprising, then, that ‘Listening is an art’ is Nicoleta’s motto. She has improved her communications skills throughout her career and speaks French fluently. “It’s not enough to simply speak a language. You have to be perceptive to nuances and the way people express themselves. Yes, communication is mostly technical in our job, but when you know the specifics of a language on top of that, you can achieve great things in Sales at Veeam.” By listening to colleagues who are native French-speakers and with years of experience in working with French customers, Nicoleta is able to master the art of modeling her language to fit the situation. “People from the north of France have a different way of saying things than those from the south. With my language skills, I can meet them where they are.”
Keeping an open mind for growth
We also talked about career progression with Nicoleta. Does she have certain next steps in mind? “I do, but I’m absolutely open to anything that might come next. I’m up for growing and I’m not going to close a window just because I have door in front of me.” In order to find out more about the positions she might be interested next, Nicoleta talks to colleagues who are already doing that job, asks them for advice and shadows them in their daily activities.
“If you want to reach greatness, Veeam is the place to be,” Nicoleta concludes.
