Our Senior Director of Sales in China, Macro Zhang joined Veeam after over twenty years working for the biggest names in world tech and even creating his own start-up company. You might wonder how any company could take his career further, but Macro saw something special in Veeam: “The product is beautiful. It had just entered China, but it has the most potential in the China market. And I’m very used to this style of entrepreneurship.”
That entrepreneurial spirit drove Macro to learn more about the Veeam culture: “I think the culture is very important. It’s very much my personality. You should have passion. You should have some characters working in the team. And flexibility. Here everybody is a family, so we can get support from each other.”
It’s been refreshing and motivating for Macro and his team to experience Veeam’s different approach: “We try a lot of new things to get Veeam to adapt to the China market, and also try to match all employees to the culture here. The Veeam values inspire me — they’re innovative.”
But it’s more than our vision that appealed to Macro. It was our ability to take action through a powerful international network: “We do a lot of the cross-functional team collaboration. We get a lot of support, especially from APJ in Singapore. We’re open to discussion and have regular catch-ups, so they can give us a lot of guidance on other countries' successful experiences — because in China it's new.”
Macro believes even the most achieved professionals will find a renewed hunger for growth at Veeam. For him, this comes in the form of new experiences and unique opportunities to develop himself: “Adaptability in any environment — this is also very important for a person's career path. And I’ve learned this from a lot of the people.”
