Senior Customer Success Manager Candace Walker has been with Veeam for eight successful years. She’s proud of her team: “When Customer Success is managing accounts, they’re more than likely to renew.” She’s proud of her travel goals: “I’ve travelled to six continents. I only have Antarctica left!” But what she’s most proud of is her work with Veeam Cares.
Veeam Cares empowers every Veeamer to step in when we’re needed. We’ve upgraded the grounds of a cancer center, painted fences, planted trees, collected food, taught classes — and, in Candace’s case, volunteered with America’s most widely recognized civil rights organization.
Every Veeamer gets three paid days off a year to spend helping a cause of their choice. “Many companies don’t even mention this kind of support, let alone offer so much of it,” Candace notes. Candace used her Veeam Cares time to hand out water and snacks during a march against police brutality as well as serving meals at a church. Both events were organized by the NAACP, where she’s a lifetime member. “There are a lot of hungry people out there,” she says. “People are losing their jobs and trying to figure out how to feed their families. Helping them was heart-warming.”
What makes her work particularly rewarding is that she was volunteering in her own community with the full support of her supervisor. “For Veeam to operate in any community is a privilege. We have a responsibility to give back to that community and be good stewards. I’m grateful to the NAACP and for the fact that I can help with the support of Veeam.”
