What are QA engineers like? How can I know whether I am skilled enough for this job?
QA engineers are curious and attentive to detail. They are quick minded and love challenges. They approach problems with clear logical thinking and common sense. Will I be able to join Veeam QA team if I have no experience in testing?

Do you hire senior students? Is it possible to combine work at Veeam and studying?
Yes. Senior students are welcome. It is also possible to work and study. In this case, we can work out an individual work schedule. We expect you to work 25-28 hours per week, as a minimum.
Why is the knowledge of operating systems and network technologies so important for this job, judging by the job description and interview questions?
Without this fundamental knowledge it would be hard to test distributed solutions with many components. Veeam products are complex client-server systems, and our QA engineers must be proficient with the environments where these systems function.
Which testing methods and strategies do Veeam QA engineers use?
We use the “black-box” and “grey-box” strategies. “White-box” testing is not widely employed (we leave that to software developers), but occasionally we can use some elements of this strategy, as well as synthesis of different methods and approaches.
Do I need to know any programming languages to work at Veeam QA?
It is not necessary. Some of the best testers in the history of our profession could not read or write a single line of code.
Do you employ automated testing?Yes. Due to a number of reasons, most of our testing is performed in the manual mode but we use automatic testing more and more often.
What is the minimum level of English that is required at Veeam?
The minimum required level is to be able to read technical documentation in English. We do not have much live communication, but the ability to write an email in English or to interact with English-speaking colleagues is certainly welcome.
What is the work schedule at Veeam?
The work schedule is flexible. You can start your workday earlier in the morning or finish work later in the evening. The mandatory hours for being present in the office are 12:00-18:00—we have established this rule to facilitate maximum interaction between teammates. Teamwork is very important at QA.

Technical Documentation Department creates and maintains technical documentation for products developed by Veeam Software. All technical documents are written in English. The Technical Documentation Department works closely with the Development, QA and Support Departments.
Do I need to know a foreign language to work at Veeam Software?
We create technical documentation in English. That is why advanced English language skills are mandatory.
I have no experience as a technical writer but I want to try. What are the minimum requirements for technical writers?
We are ready to accept candidates without technical writing experience. The candidate must have advanced English language skills, be enthusiastic about new technologies, have technical and learning skills, and easily express ideas in writing. Our documents must be grammatically correct and easy to understand.
Should I know any technical standards, such as GOSTs 19 and 34?
No, this is not necessary. We follow the Microsoft Manual of Style and use common sense.
Should I know basics of HTML/CSS, XML? How can I apply this knowledge in my work?
Technical writers solve a wide variety of tasks that accompany documentation development and publication. It often happens that a technical writer needs to make minor changes in the HTML code.
Are there universities that have training programs for technical writers?
Unfortunately, there are no such programs yet. Besides, knowledge that you can get at various educational courses is not universal.
What qualities should a technical writer possess?
A technical writer must combine creativity and a technical mind . Technical writers must be interested in technologies and programming, know how to concentrate, be attentive to details, eager to learn and share knowledge.
