Cloud Marketing Manager, The USA
Julie started working at Veeam in January, 2011 as a Marketing Assistant and supported the North America Central sales team. Now she is an Area Marketing Manager.
Short answer: We have great mentors and managers at Veeam. Take the initiative, don’t be afraid of failure and always challenge yourself.
Long answer: I have supported Channel, Distribution, Alliance and managed Field events in the North America Marketing department since I joined Veeam. So I encourage everyone to step out of your comfort zone to learn a new technology in a new area when there’s an opportunity. This will help you define the right career path for yourself.
I really enjoy being an Area Marketing Manager. I know what I am passionate about and the list of skills and experiences that I have gained prior to this new role will help me continue my career growth at Veeam. I like everything about my job. We are Veeam Speed and Always-On. We have a great team here and everyone sells!
Since Veeam is a 100% channel-focused business model (no direct sales), enabling our channel partner/reseller is very important to our everyday business. This involves working closely with our focus partners to create and execute marketing plans for each one of them. Create marketing programs and campaigns that can increase brand awareness and generate new revenue and business for our partners and Veeam.
Ability to multi-task, aggressive to learn and ready to work in a fast-paced environment.
Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, Asia Pacific & Japan
If you want to learn the entire spectrum of what corporate communications for a global software vendor entails, this is the team to be on.
Sharmin is a communications specialist with more than 16 years of experience covering corporate communications, journalism and fund management in the Asia Pacific region. She is first and foremost a storyteller with a strong working knowledge of the B2B software solution markets in the channel and end-user areas, including a solid background in finance and economics. Prior to joining Veeam, Sharmin was the Head of Corporate Communications for Dimension Data Australia, where she built the corporate communications team and worked closely with the CMO, CIO and CEO to establish best practices for customer case studies, media relations, analyst relations, executive communications and employee relations. Her earlier experience includes account management at global PR agencies — Hill & Knowlton and Bite Communications — where she provided public relations counsel to B2B technology clients. Sharmin commenced her career as venture capitalist in Malaysia focusing on investing in first stage funding for ICT companies.
Sharmin is responsible for Veeam’s communications direction in the Asia Pacific region and works in partnership with Veeam’s in-region marketing and sales organizations. Sharmin drives the PR strategy through the management of six PR agencies across the region and manages all relationships with the broader APAC analyst community. She provides strategic executive counsel to local management teams for all issues and crisis communication, while keeping all spokespeople informed of Veeam’s strategic messaging.
In early 2014, a friend of a friend (who is a recruiter) mentioned Veeam to me. I read the job description and wanted to know more. The regional remit along with the long list of requirements piqued my interest and after several conversations — including one with CMO, Peter Ruchatz — I was sold.
As part of the corporate communications department within the corporate marketing team, I manage the corporate communications function for the Asia-Pacific region. I may be incredibly biased, but I work with the best corporate communications team in the universe that is led by a calm and intuitive manager and has a group of ladies who are smart, passionate and highly energized. I like to say that my role is similar to a storyteller — being able to tell the Veeam story through the many platforms available to us whether it be through the media, analysts, or other influencers.
My job is a combination of all things that I love, and I have often described it as a dream job. I love the day-to-day interaction with my colleagues, the media and analysts. I enjoy working side-by-side with our PR agencies, who are an extension of the marketing team, and I truly enjoy interacting with our leaders, who are thoughtful, kind, smart, creative and an absolute joy to work with. I think I am one of the lucky ones: I am truly blessed to be doing what I love. Everything else is a bonus.
Staying fluid and being able to communicate clearly and effectively to different audiences internally and externally.
Veeam is a multi-paced organization with some things moving faster than others. Learning this early on and having an appreciation for the reasons is fundamental for anyone’s success. If everyone keeps their eyes on our BHAGs — to be the number one data management company and to become a billion dollar business in 2018 — everything else will fall into place.
